five things i learned this week

  • A seven-year-old girl who has been diagnosed with ADD and Dyslexia can perfectly sight read piano music.

 

  • Imbues means to influence as if by dyeing. (Then I started thinking about who has the power when it comes to influence? Is it the teacher or the student? A little of both, right? As a leader, I can do things to be a better influence. As a student, though, I have to be willing to learn.)

 

  • Bon Iver is pronounced bone-ee-vare, as opposed to bon I-ver. Consequently, it was confirmed that I’m still hookt on fonicks.

 

  • I don’t like being talked to as if I’m a two-year-old. If you talk to me like that, please know, just like a toddler, I’m dismissing everything you say.

 

  • Hope deferred really does make the heart sick. (Hope the second part of the verse is just as true–but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life, Proverbs 13:12.)
