I had the opportunity to worship with some fiery hearts in Arkansas a couple of weeks ago. During the worship time there was a prayer released about choosing holiness. In the same way a quilt’s weight lies on top of you, providing warmth and safety, this prayer covered us in the room.
Relationship with God is so intriguing, right? I love that I can boldly approach him because I’m a daughter—grabbing his face and talking his ear off. It doesn’t end there though. My one-on-one access to God allows me to remember that he is Creator and I’m created in his likeness. My growth as a disciple of Christ must be marked by becoming more and more like him—restored to his original intent.
In our world that is upside down, inside out from what it was created to be, we experience injustice, trauma, suffering, pain, fear. Those things create shifts inside us. We have divided hearts. Our Creator, our Father, our Savior doesn’t want that for us. He wants to heal us—restored back to his original intent. He lavishes his love on us—especially in that one-on-one place—so we will be whole again. So that we can be undivided before him because he is undivided—complete, holy. Why? Because that’s what God has always wanted! Don’t you want that too?
Here is a simple recording of a song in response to that prayer time and further considerations:
Undivided Before You (click to listen)
We want undivided hearts
Undivided hearts before you, LordTeach us to love you, Lord
With all our heart, soul, mind, and strengthWe want undivided hearts
Undivided hearts before you, LordWe were created in your likeness
You never wanted us split in two
You’re the healing power restoring us
Undivided before youYou are holy, holy, holy, holy
We were created in your likeness
You never wanted us split in two
You’re the healing power restoring us
Undivided before youWe want undivided hearts
Undivided hearts before you, Lord
