I’ve spent several weeks sharing parts of my press on to know the Lord journey. What I’ve learned about pursuing the Lord has provided strength and conditioning to the disciple in me. I’m positive I will revisit my notes again and again in the years ahead. But the greatest treasure from the journey is the promise within that scripture—knowing the Lord.
Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord; his going out is as sure as the dawn; he will come to us as spring rains that water the earth. Hosea 6:3
God wants to be known. He is accessible—and readily so. We were created to be in relationship with him. God couldn’t stand that we were separated from him by sin. So much so, he sent his only son to reconcile us back to him. God unveiled himself completely in Jesus. …the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints. Colossians 1:26
So, let’s begin the Revealed series. Let’s dive into, explore, search out—rejoice in—knowing the Lord. We will look at his names, his nature, and his character. My prayer is that we get so wrapped up in knowing the Lord that we forget we are in a series, that we forget protocol. I pray his beauty will captivate our hearts and we will forget we’re on earth because heaven is so real to us. I pray that we will echo Paul’s understanding,
I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. Philippians 3:8
