Five things I heard this week

  • A Student to Me: Your face could be an emoji
  • There are no inspiring stories of accumulation, only inspiring stories of sacrifice.” Carey Neiwhof
  • I try to lead by not blaming others or assuming someone else is at fault but by taking responsibility for my decisions and whatever happens. You can always find reasons why you’re not to blame and why you’re the victim. But this is no way to lead your life, and it will ultimately undermind the big, spacious life you want to live as you follow Jesus — from Live Love Lead by Brian Houston
  • Wisdom is without favoritism and hypocrisy — James 3:17
  • The story has been told that after Walt Disney passed away, his wife, Lilly, was at the opening of the newest theme park, Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. During the ceremony, one of her friends leaned over and said, “Shame Walt isn’t here to see this. To which Lilly replied, ‘Walt did see this–that’s why it’s here.”

BONUS

  • One by one my co-workers started a statement off with “Adrienne, I affirm…” and then finished the statement with some really thoughtful and encouraging things they’ve noticed about me. I left feeling encouraged and loved!

There are the three things you need to know about me. I am a child of God, and I love being about his business; I have a gigantic heart for discipleship, worship, leadership, and creative things; I could eat BBQ morning, day, and night. For more information, see the ABOUT page
