#11 Steps that Lead to Joy

My dad sent the following picture to me a few days ago. I instantly liked that joy was stamped on an old shoe form, as if it were saying, “steps that lead to joy.”

It wasn’t until a second glance that I noticed which hymn was in the background, “Nearer, My God, to Thee”. Did you know this hymn was written to retell the story of Jacob’s dream? In the dream there was ladder that connected heaven to earth, there were angels ascending and descending. The Lord stood above and reminded Jacob of his covenant (Genesis 28).

So, today’s simple thought is — Steps that lead to joy will always be the steps that lead us closer (nearer) to to the Lord. Friends, his nearness is guaranteed and he doesn’t forget his promises.

Still all my song shall be, nearer, my God, to Thee.

I pray you feel the Lord’s nearness today. What steps are you taking?
