I’ve never met a more beastly thing than that of grief. It is untamed and unrelenting as it drags loss through your being. It is not a respecter of persons, no one is immune. Time can wear grief down and soften its cold, blunt blows. But, there is only one thing that knocks grief out—Joy.
When you’ve experienced the joy of the Lord, grief is limited. It may have its moment—weeping may tarry for the night—but joy comes with the morning (Psalms 30:5).
I love this verse. It releases hope. I love it even more because I believe it runs parallel to another verse about mornings,
…his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness (Lamentations 3:22-23).
As relentless as grief may seem, especially in the middle of the “night”, it is not faithful…it is not victorious…it has an end. God’s mercies keep coming. They are stronger, they are triumphant, they are never-ending. And, somehow, in some glorious way, joy is a part of the morning too.
The morning declares God’s great faithfulness as it brings in the light and warmth of new mercies and joy.
Praying for you today, that you feel the hope of God’s faithfulness shining on you. That you tangibly feel waves of mercies and joy.
This is my favorite one so far.
