Shielded by Favor

I was reading Psalm 5:12 this morning. I asked the Lord to show me what it looks like to be covered by his favor as a shield.

I remembered that God’s favor has to do with his acceptance and pleasure more than his blessings and gifts. (Thank you, Graham Cooke!)

I began to a see a picture of me standing while God was behind me. He lifted his hands over me and brought down a transparent shield in front of me. It surrounded me from side to side while the father’s filled the space between the shield’s edges. It was designed that way, as if it were incomplete without the Father standing there too.

There were words living on the shield. They moved, dancing in a way. Each phrase would catch light from the Father. Sometimes just a glimmer, at other times a blinding reflection. The words had a sounds. Melodies, rhythms, and simple accents to their meaning.

“She is mine–Mine–MINE–mine.” “My delight!” “She knows my name.” “VICTORIOUS.” “Strong and courageous.” “More than a sparrow.”

Some of the words were personal to me and my life with the Lord, past and present. I’m certain there were future references as well. Some of the words were truths from scripture.

What an incredible picture to remember as I face my day, weeks, months, years.

You are shielded by the Lord’s favor too! What does your shield say? What does it look like? Take five minutes and and let him show you.
