Trading Table

There is a trading table where we bring our collection of disappointments and trade them for the rejoicing and laughter of God. Don’t be confused. It’s not like the fake laughter of man that barely hides the disappointments we are still lugging around. The rejoicing of God rises from a unknown depth, overshadows every hurt and sorrow, and changes our countenance. We reflect His nature when we trade them in.

Will we lay it all on the table? Will we receive what God gives us in exchange?

It is the very same table that He prepares for us in front of our enemy (Psalm 23). That’s where the exchange occurs. The father of lies, the killer and destroyer is forced to watch every transaction go down. He is subjected to every taste we take of Jesus’ sacrifice.

Friend, it is not a one time exchange. The table it set for us everyday. The exchanges happen all day. Taste and see. Come, eat, drink. You with no money, come, delight yourself in rich food (Isaiah 55).

Which table have we pulled up a chair to? Which table do we return to?  Which table gives us joy that can’t be taken away?

Come, eat, delight yourself in countenance-changing, joy-giving, worry-crushing, in-your-enemy’s-face food.
