For the past 19 days, we have looked at the layers of meaning within the word wonder.
Recap: awe, surprise, amazed, marvel, miracle, discuss, reason, ponder, dialogue, behold, look, see, curious, beyond comprehension, here I am.
For the next six days, I’d like to put those things into practice. Will you join me? Our subject is Jesus. This is the season we celebrate the word becoming flesh and dwelling among us—Emmanuel. The long-awaited Messiah.
When Jesus came to earth, he brought everything he was with him. Everything he has always been was wrapped up in skin and bone. Wow, what a wonder!
Consider these passages.
Colossians 1:15-2
[Jesus] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.
And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together…
For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross
John 1:1-5
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
Isn’t he wonderful?
What wonders do you see? What wonder rises in your heart? What kind of response are you compelled to give?
