Jesus said I am the resurrection and the life. He has always been the resurrection; he will always be the resurrection. Whether in heaven or on earth, we get to participate in that victory.
I had no plan to write about this aspect of Jesus for the wonder series. But how can I not? You may have seen the hashtag #wakeupolive exploding on social media recently, and thousands of people praying and believing for the resurrection of a two-year-old girl.
I am writing because I’m absolutely amazed at the faith, the community, the pursuit, the awakening that has/is happening in the Body of Christ. I haven’t felt this much expectancy in the Church in — maybe never in my lifetime. (And I’m a crazy charismatic.) I’ve read about it in history books. I’ve been jealously curious about what it would look like today. And, I think I’ve seen it, if only a little, if only the beginning.
The outcome we’ve been praying for has not come, and there are many unanswered questions. Here is what I know. God will respond to all the faith, all the zeal in some way. It’s his very nature to respond, and it will be good because he is good.
It has been a joy to join with my brothers and sisters in Christ and press into heaven for a miracle—a wonder. It has been a relief almost to contend with the Lord for the very thing he is. (Why don’t I do it more often.) I’m honored to have wrestled with the Lord over Olive. There is always a blessing in the wrestle.
Thank you, Church, for waking something up in me!
Jesus, we stand in awe of who you are. You’ve heard every cry, the one in solo and the ones in a myriad of unison. We watch and wait for your response—my heart is pounding for you. On earth as it is in heaven.
