God opens his mouth, takes a breath in, and releases a sound. It creates, it directs, it comforts, it calls, it declares. That’s incredible! We have his voice, we have his written words, and we have Jesus– the Word from the beginning. In every word he speaks, there is an invitation, “Come, walk with me.”
The Psalmist writes a prayer to God, “Your word is a lamp unto my feet and light unto my path.” (Psalm 119:111) He understood the invitation embedded in God’s words.
The Word isn’t stiff and rigid. At its core, it is relational–alive and active. The Word beckons to interact with us. Let me be a part of your day. Let me navigate life with you. Let me speak truth into the uncertainty. Let me shine some light on the matter.
If we accept the invitation, the Holy Spirit begins to lead the way and hides the Word in our hearts. Say, “Yes!” Enjoy the journey!
