Day 2: Hope is Confident Expectation

Hope isn’t merely wishing. Wishing leads to anxiety. “I hope it doesn’t rain tomorrow,” we say as we check the weather every ten seconds. “I hope I get paid this month,” we say as we worry about the what-ifs. But hope is a confident expectation in God, and it leads to joy*. Romans 5:2, “Rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.” God does not fail, and his promises are yes and amen. We aren’t wishing for the best when we put our hope in him. We are confident that his way is perfect, Psalm 18:30.
