Day 1: Greetings of Peace

It seems fitting for day one of peace to be a greeting. Shalom is the Hebrew word for peace. It is often used as a greeting throughout the Bible and still today between Israelis. But shalom means more than our typical understanding of quietness. It also translates as prosperity, well-being, health, completeness, safety. So much better than an ordinary hello!

So I gladly say shalom to you today, friends! May grace and peace (in its fullest meaning) be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
2 Peter 1:2
