Day 4: Listening for Peace

What does it take for us to listen? I have confused it before with turning up the volume. I can’t hear the radio over the road noise; turn it up. I can’t hear the TV over the dishwasher; turn it up. I can’t hear God over the worry; turn it…, wait. Ha! When has that ever worked? The world is upside down from the kingdom of heaven. I am finding that listening to what the Lord has to say involves turning the noise down and moving to a quiet place—physically and mentally. It is in that still place where I am able to listen and hear him. And, as the psalmist writes, the benefit of listening to what the Lord says is the promise of peace (peace, well-being, safety, completeness, prosperity.)
