Day 14: Rains of Peace

As I was writing Day 13: Go In Peace, I sat beside a giant window at the library. I know better than to do this because the surest way of getting no work done is to sit beside a window. Regardless, there I was. On this overcast day, I was trapped in distraction as a late fall rain dripped between newly naked trees. As I watched, I began to see a vision in the Spirit.

A lady was standing on the ground looking toward the gentle rain. Swaying–dirt and grime began to stream off her face and arms. Peace washed over her bringing freedom. Spinning–a joy began to rise deep within her. She radiated through the grey.

Maybe something is sticking to you today. Maybe sin or a destructive pattern. An illness or disease that won’t leave you alone. Maybe it is years’ worth of judgments and curses spoken over you. Depression, perhaps, disappointments, displacement. Or is it something else clinging to you like sweat and dirt, weight and chains?

There is washing that comes from heaven, from the person of Jesus, and it makes us whole. Are you willing to stand in the waters flow? Healing, restoration, security, freedom. Can you feel it, like a steady falling rain? Each drop breaks off the heavy. Will you stay? Will you let your faith, even in its smallest measure, push past the obstacles today?]

I’m praying for you today. That you, like this person in the vision, experience the freedom and peace available to us through Jesus.

One practical step toward experiencing more of Jesus is to give home five more minutes in your day. Turn the distractions off (tv, shopping, books, social outings, etc.). Sit with him a little longer. Linger. Start with a prayer, “Jesus, here I am, wash over me.” See what happens.
