Day 8: I Got You, Daniel 3
But what about the times I’m thrown into the fire of life’s circumstances—and there’s no time to rally the intercessors or to fast and seek the Lord for guidance? Is God with me, then? Yep!
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to bow in worship before an idol of gold. Their faith landed them in a fiery furnace that was so hot it killed the guards. That’s pretty hot! Daniel 3 says King Nebuchadnezzar’s order was urgent. So, not a lot of time to get the prayer line going.
Of course, we know that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were unharmed by the fire. There was no thread or hairs singed. They didn’t even smell like smoke. Why? Emmanuel. There was a fourth man in the fire who appeared like “the gods,” according to Nebuchadnezzar. God’s presence overpowered an overheated furnace.
I’ve said this before, but it’s worth repeating. When God says, “I am with you,” they are not empty words. They are proven again and again regardless of circumstances—merry and bright, ambiguous and bleak—doesn’t matter. “I am with you” means I am with you.
This is Emmanuel: I got you.
