Day 10: Carry Me

Day 10: Carry Me, Psalm 23, Isaiah 40:11, Psalm 34:18

Maybe you are crushed in spirit for a different reason this year.

The realities of sickness and death, brokenness, tragedies, long-suffering, and loneliness are too familiar in our lives today.

I’m so sorry that you are in pain. I don’t have much to offer you except prayer and a sympathetic notion. But I hope these words comfort you in ways that I can not.

Even though you walk in a valley of deep darkness,
fear does not have victory.
Our Good Shepherd extends his staff, and it brings comfort.

He picks you up with strong, able arms.
He pulls you close as he carries you through the worst. And through the pain, he brings you into his house, his dwelling place.

Can you see the table the Good Shepherd has set before you?
Can you see illness, loss, lies, and every shattered piece watching him feed you,
watching him minister healing to you?

He is near to you and your broken heart. He is near to save you.

This is Emmanuel: He’s carrying us in his everlasting arms, and his comfort is a healing balm.
