Day 24
I Can Hear the Wedding Bells, Revelation 21
I recently heard a preacher talk about the word of God as a seed with multiple dimensions: It has been, It is, and It will be. It is the same for God’s presence, of course. (See Day 1.) In this series, we’ve covered the was and is. Now it’s time to talk about what is coming. Whoo!
Jesus drops some good hints.
I go to prepare a place for you. I will come again and take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. John 14: 1-6
And there are his words to the thief on a cross next to him who defended Jesus’ innocence and asked to be remembered. Jesus replies,
Truly I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise. Luke 23: 39-43
But it’s in the revelation John receives that we get the best picture of our future, the advent we eagerly await. In it we see Emmanuel in a whole new way.
Will you take a few minutes to read and celebrate these words?
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end…
Behold, I am coming soon.
The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” from Revelation 21 & 22
This is Emmanuel: A multidimensional promise and desire to be with us forever.
