Welcome to the Advent season!
As I prepared for this series, I had a hard time taking it all in. Though there are definitions for glory, the applications of the word are vast and complex. I think Isaiah’s response to heaven says it best. Woe is me!
I quickly realized I would need some boundaries for my safety and yours. Ha! So, for the next 25 days, I will stick close to the following definitions and applications of glory found throughout the Bible.
Definitions
- Visible, manifest presence of God
- Splendor and Beauty
- Honor, Dignity, Respect, Worship
Applications
- Glory is revealed and/or given
- Glory is filling people and things
- Glory is beauty or beautifies
What is truly wonderful about this word, about this aspect of God, is the ceaselessness of it/him. He is Alpha and Omega, who is and was and is to come (Revelation 1:8).
The Advent season celebrates who God has always been—to look back and remember what he has done and to look ahead and remember his promises. And for all that we know about glory through the Bible and what we have tasted and seen in our lives, does it not have us on the edge of life waiting, watching for Jesus’ return? Come, Lord, quickly.

25 Days of Glory begins tomorrow!
