Glory Day 5: King of Glory

One of my favorite chapters in the Bible is Psalm 24. It’s a prophetic picture of Jesus coming as the Messiah, but also as his return as King of Kings. It’s in two sections. The first section describes a generation of people who seek the face of God. They will be holy like him—clean hands, pure hearts, no falsehood, no deceit.

The exhortation in the second part of Psalm 24 is as we seek the Lord—as we lift up our eyes and set our gaze on Jesus—we usher in the King of glory!

And then David describes our king.

Who is this King of glory?
He is the LORD
(supreme)
He is strong and mighty
He is mighty in battle
He is the LORD of hosts
(Lord of armies — as in all of them: heavenly, angelic, multitudes of believers, etc.)

As we set our hearts on your coming and your coming again, Jesus, we remove every obstruction and lift up our heads. We set our gaze on the most beautiful person ever to exist. We gaze on strength itself. King of glory, you are everything! Come, Lord, quickly.
