Glory Day 10: That’s a Lot of Glory

As we read about glory in the Bible, we see God likes to fill people and things with his glory. For the next few days, we are going to look at this recurring pattern. Let’s start with the glorious riches of the mystery hidden through the ages—Christ in us, the hope of glory.

Colossians 1:26-27 — The mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord’s people…the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

To fully appreciate the glorious riches that take up residence in us when we are redeemed by Jesus, we have to back up a little and read Colossians 1:15-23. You might as well read all of Chapter 1. It’s pretty great. I will summarize for us.

Jesus has always existed. He is first. Everything is made through him. Nothing exists without him. And he is holding everything together. The fullness of God is pleased to dwell in him. And though we were enemies with God, through Jesus’ body and blood, we are reconciled to Father and made holy.

All of that, which is kind of hard to grasp, dwells in us as sons and daughters of God. That’s a lot of riches! All of God is dwelling in Jesus, and all of Jesus, including his Spirit, now lives in us. That’s a lot of glory! So next time you look in the mirror and all you see are the flaws, remind yourself of this hope. We are walking, talking earthen vessels of these glorious riches.

As we set our hearts on your coming, Jesus, and your coming again, we say it’s an honor and joy to carry your life, to carry everything you came for! Find a home in us.
