Glory Day 19: Thanksgiving

What do we do with the glory that God the Father, Son, and Spirit give so generously to us, the glory that fills us and transforms us? Opposite from the rule of the god of this world that likes to keep and hoard and self-preserve, our best response to all the Lord gives us is to give it back to him just as generously as it was bestowed upon us.

The Response of Thanksgiving

Giving glory back to God begins with thanksgiving.

The psalmist writes,
The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me. Psalm 50:23

John records a great multitude from every nation, tongue, and tribe crying, Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb! Following that, the angels and elders and living creatures cry, Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Revelation 7:9-12

Will you take a moment and let thanksgiving overflow your heart and words? If for no other reason, God sent his only son to us as the perfect Lamb, the spotless sacrifice so that we might be saved.

As we set our hearts on your coming, Jesus, and your coming again, we glorify you today with our thanksgiving. You have taught us how to give, and it’s a joy to give back to you!
