Glory Day 23: Intercession

Intercession

Intercession is the act of coming into alignment with God’s heart and joining with his word. And it is always an appropriate response to God and his glory.

Jesus’ life is a demonstration of aligning with the Father’s heart. He came to reconcile us to the Father and taught us how to stay there. We learn how to intercede from Jesus. He teaches us how to pray. Think about John 17, Matthew 6:9-13, Luke 22:31-32, Luke 2:49.

I say all that today because intercession is a beautiful, holy response to passages like Habakkuk 2:14.

For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

We are living in the tension of preparing for Jesus to come again and the age to follow. As part of that preparation, I believe we will see the knowledge of the glory of the Lord fill the earth. Oh, the wonder! At least two demonstrations of that glory will be a unified brilliant church in darkness, as Isaiah 60 describes, and a great harvest of souls, as Revelation 4 declares.

Will you pray this with me today?

Lord, we join with your heart and cry, fill the earth with the knowledge of your glory! We are desperate for your glory!

As we set our hearts on your coming, Jesus, thank you for teaching us how to pray and how to stay joined with the Father’s heart. Fill us, fill the church, fill the earth with your knowledge. Your glory, Lord, is what we long for.
