I Will, You Are by adrienne scott, fall 2024
In the birth
when all is new
I will praise
you are life
In the deep
immersed in unknown
I will reach
you are truth
In doubt
where fears cry out
I will call
you are nearer than I can see
In the dream
that rushes through my soul
I will grab hold
you are steady
In the unsettled
when all is in the air
I will look
you hold it together
In grief
that presses me to dust
I will worship
you are with me*
In flight
tucked under your wing
I will hold on tight
you are the shelter
In dying
my flesh conceding
I will live again
you are the resurrection
In growth
flourishing fruit, abundantly
I will thank you, still
you are the sourcing
In the not yet
the sting of disappointment
I will bow in reverence
you are holy
In the running out
when everything empties
I will give you this earthen vessel
you are the glory
In surrender
where all I am is yours
I vow to stay
you are worthy
*inspired by this quote from Charles Spurgeon. “My dear friend, when grief presses you to the dust, worship there.”
