Advent Day 3: A Living Hope

Day 3: A Living Hope
A selection from 25 Days of Hope 2020, adapted 2024

As a son and daughter of God, we are born again into a living hope. We are born again into an inheritance that is absolute perfection and cannot be destroyed. It isn’t going anywhere. As a matter of fact, it’s being guarded for us in heaven.

That’s a really great reason to rejoice. But, also.

As we wait and persevere, our faith is in transformation. It’s becoming genuine, proved by fire, and valuable like gold.

In the same way the wise men brought gifts to Jesus, we bring our gift of faith to him. We honor Jesus with our faith in his mercy, in the inheritance waiting for us, and the living hope we are alive in right now. Wow.

Daily Reading: 1 Peter 1:3-7
According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Declaration:
Jesus, thank you for mercy! As we celebrate your birth and prepare for your return, we honor you with our faith. We cling to the living hope and unfading inheritance you have given us.
