Day 9: Is There Room?
A selection from 25 Days of Glory 2023, adapted 2024
And when the priests came out of the Holy Place, a cloud filled the house of the Lord, so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord. 1 Kings 8:10-11
What does it look like to be full of God’s glory? So full that we are unable to stand and minister? This passage often comes up regarding services. We long for God’s glory to overtake the rooms we gather in. That is a wonderful longing and righteous prayer. But a lot of life happens, and a lot of space occurs between services.
What if we refused to stand in our own strength and only relied on the faithfulness of God—in every second of every minute of every day?
Perhaps, glory at capacity looks like Galatians 2:20. It’s no longer we who live but Christ who lives in us. It’s when…
When we are only alive in him
When we no longer stand in his way
When we no longer boast in our abilities
When we can’t stand to move without him
When the only life we’re building is on Jesus
What if instead of ‘no room in the inn’ for Jesus, all the room is reserved for Jesus? That’s a better story. That’s when the ‘No Vacancy’ sign flashes in our hearts for the world to see.
Declaration: As we celebrate your birth, Jesus, and prepare for your return, we declare all the life we now live is by faith in you. Fill our temples until we can’t stand on our own. It’s all for you, Jesus!
Daily Reading: I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20
