I’ve added a new short story, Upstream, to the Free Resources page. It’s about Shepherd and Christian who often meet for breakfast to talk and walk together. I hope it makes us long to meet, to keep meeting Jesus and going wherever he leads us.

Excerpt from Upstream —
“…After a few more minutes up a winding road, we turned into a parking lot. There were several other cars there. People were going and coming from a trailhead. True to Shepherd’s nature, he parked in the farthest spot from the trail’s entrance. I scratched my forehead and rolled my eyes while mumbling,
“Of course.”
Without missing a beat, “Extra steps never hurt anyone,” he offered.
I stepped out of the truck and stretched my hands up while moving to the right, then left. Shepherd stood propped up on his open door. The lowing sound of the falls beckoned us right away.
“I do love this place,” he said, looking beyond the lot into the trees.
I shut my door and walked around to the back of the truck. Shep came around with the backpack I had forgotten on the floorboard.
“You want this?”
“Oh. Yeah,” taking and swinging it over my shoulder.
“You won’t need it.”
“You never know, Shep, you never know.”
That time, I heard a definite grunt.
