Praying Through Advent, Lamb of God

DECEMBER 1, LAMB OF GOD

Adoration & Worship
O Lamb of God, perfect Lamb. You are worthy of all the blessings and honor and glory, Lord! Revelation 5

Repentance & Confession
Forgive me, Lord, for hearing but not doing what you’ve said. I want to be wise, like one who builds their house on the rock. To hear and do what you say, that is endurance. Matthew 7:24-27

Petition (asking for personal needs)
I want to respond like Abraham, Lord. Put the ‘here I am’ response in my heart and let it rise to early obedience. Genesis 22:1-3

Intercession (praying for others)
Your word says your sheep know your voice, and they will not listen to another — help us, Holy Spirit. Open our eyes to see the life you’ve laid before us, and open our ears to hear and follow you. John 10:4-5, 11, 27

Thanksgiving
Thank you, Jehovah Jireh, for providing the Lamb, for the sacrifice we could never produce, grow, or gather on our own. Your blood, your life poured out, makes us new. You are faithful! Genesis 22:9-14, Matthew 26:28

The above format is adopted from one of my favorite resources, Face to Face by Kenneth Boa. Each day, we will pray scripture back to God using five different types of prayers: Adoration, Repentance, Petition, Intercession, and Thanksgiving. For this series, the scriptures chosen center (and expand) from Advent themes.
