Jesus isn’t something to gawk and stare at like art on the wall. I’m convinced that if we are truly looking at Jesus to satisfy our desires, our gaze will turn into pursuit and relationship. He is living and breathing and beckons a matching response.
As we bury ourselves deep in his heart, our lives become everyday responses to him. We root, and grow, and bear fruit from his heart. His life is our life source.
The psalmist writes, One thing I ask of the Lord, to see his beauty and visit his temple (Ps 27). That’s the hope behind these daily thoughts—to get us looking at Jesus and responding, living, from that place. I have found it is easy to start there, but hard to remain there.
