I’ve been holding something before the Lord in the prayer for several months now. It’s different, it’s stretching my faith. The picture that comes to mind is like being out on a limb–shaky and thin. As scary as is it may be, that’s where the fruit is hanging. And, as a friend recently reminded me, it’s where little birds build their nests.
The fear with this prayer is that I’m missing God. Some days I feel like I’m running ahead of him, other days I feel like I’m too far behind. So I’ve come to a resolve in my heart. Whether I get to have this thing I’m asking for or not, all I really want is to know God a little more at the end of every day. I believe with all my guts that I learn more about his voice, his gaze, his hands as I daily lay this prayer down at his feet.
Of course, I process best with a melody and a piano. So here is a simple recording of the song that is developing because of this prayer. I Hope I get to tell you all the details someday.
don’t let me go, don’t let me go to far / don’t let me stay, don’t let me stay behind / don’t let me miss, don’t let me miss a thing / I know it’s you call me out there.
out of this cave I’m coming / all things new / out on a limb I’m running / straight to you
all I want is to know you / all I need is to know you / at the end of every day I gotta know you a little more
give me eyes, give me eyes that see / give me faith, give me faith that moves / give me heart, give me heart that knows / that knows you’re with me every day
out of this cave I’m coming / all things new / out on a limb I’m running / straight to you
all I want is to know you / all I need is to know you / at the end of every day I gotta know you a little more
I gotta know, I gotta know you, I gotta know you a little more

As always that I you for sharing! The song is beautiful. I can’t wait to hear the fuller story of what the Lord does in this season at some point in the future. Love you, friend. What a blessing you are!
