I think the following verses will be my prayer for 2019. It contains praise for what God has done, petition for him to do it again, and prophesying what it will be like.
I’m longing for the day when Jesus returns and all things are made new, and we see restoration like never before. Meanwhile… on earth as it is heaven. Amen?!
Psalm 126
When the Lord brought back his exiles to Jerusalem, it was like a dream! We were filled with laughter, and we sang for joy. And the other nations said, “What amazing things the Lord has done for them.” Yes, the Lord has done amazing things for us! What joy!
Restore our fortunes, Lord, as streams renew the desert. Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest.
I love that there are known and unknown elements to God’s restoration work in progress. Like, I know he is going to restore some lost things in my life, but I don’t know what it will look like or when it will happen. Don’t miss understand, it’s totally annoying. But, I know I will love it because he is good and he doesn’t skip out on the details.
The Lord has done great things for us, he will do it again. What are you asking God to restore?
