Day 10: God Provides the Hope

One of the names for God in the Bible is Jehovah Jireh and it means “the Lord will provide.” It’s the name Abraham gaves the place where God provided a ram in place of Isaac for the sacrifice. When we need something, or when God is calling us to something, it’s a guarantee that he’s providing what is necessary. It’s who he is.

Need a savior? I’m the Lamb. Need peace? I’m the Prince of Peace. Need faith? I give that gift. Need a helper? Got it, I’ll pour out my Spirit. Need hope? No problem, I’m the God of hope.

Paul speaks this blessing over the church. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Romans 15:13

I want to break this passage down to be sure we see all its components. The God of hope (our provider) is sending an abundance of hope. Not a little dab will do you, an overflow. How? Through the power of the Holy Spirit. Shabba! And by the way, this overflow of hope has some company. Joy and peace will fill us. Can you picture this? This a serious blessing.

Need hope? No problem. God provides the hope.
