Day 13
Strong and Courageous, Deuteronomy 31:7-8/Joshua 1:1-9
Would you want the commission to lead a bunch of grumpy people who have been waiting decades to see a promise fulfilled? Um, no thanks. But that’s what Joshua was called to do.
As he was commissioned to lead the Israelites, God charged Joshua and made a covenant with him.
Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you, just as I promised to Moses…Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you…Be strong and courageous and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. (Joshua 1:1-9 & Deuteronomy 31:7-8)
What a promise! What an assurance!
I’ll say this again, I’m not sure of the promises you’re waiting to see fulfilled or the generations involved. I do know, with certainty, that God finishes what he starts. Not only to fulfill but to stay with us in the unfolding.
This is Emmanuel: Every reason to remain strong and courageous because he’s going to do what he promises. Every time.
