I know the world is loud right now about women’s rights, and I’m thankful for the progress made over the years that have allowed women to be educated, pursue careers, and even be ministers in the church. But I implore you, sisters, to keep your eyes on Jesus and the business of the kingdom of heaven. This message of the world is laden with offense and vindictiveness. It is a false sense of justice that is trying to exalt women and women’s rights above law and life, and ultimately God. The trouble with standing with this false foundation is that it seeps into our thought process and affects other areas of our lives, especially our relationship with God and the body of Christ. We must stop carrying the offense of oppression. That leads to a victim mentality and one of entitlement. It will hijack the preaching of the Gospel every time.
Sisters in Christ, men are not the enemy, and the exaltation of women is not the solution. We are created to work and serve together, to be the body of Christ together. We get to exalt the name of Jesus together.
Sisters in Christ, we are not above humility, forgiveness, and healing. We are not above following Jesus. There is no difference between a woman’s surrender to the life of Christ than anyone else’s. If the Lord says no, don’t go. If the Lord says this way, follow with all your heart. If he expands our reach, cool. If he doesn’t, then it is also good and right. Trust him. Taking up our cross is not the same as taking up our burdens. We must lay down every hurt (even generations worth) before Jesus and let God administer healing and justice.
There is a wonderful work of healing beckoning us to come and surrender. It is the safest place to lay down any wound we carry and the offense that comes with it. If we don’t let the healing work of Jesus have its way and let forgiveness reign in our hearts and thoughts, our message will no longer be the good news of the Gospel. Instead, it will be just another noisy message with no light.
RECAP
- Clothe ourselves in humility
- Forgive others
- Lay down the offense regardless of what the world is telling us to do
- Let God heal the wound
- Follow Jesus where he leads us
- Ministry isn’t about being a woman in ministry. Ministry is about pointing people to Jesus.
- If we are not received, for whatever reason, shake off the dust and repeat!
We are created with power and purpose to minister the Gospel. Trust God. He is our Creator. He is a perfect leader and ally. He is a faithful defender and shield.
This is so good! Right on target. Thank you, A!
