For Your Name’s Sake, 2024
I don’t have the strength to wrestle anymore
but with what I have, I grab hold of you
I don’t have the while to ask more questions
but with what remains, I won’t let go
…
When the wind whirls
throwing everything out of place
I turn my feet again
to your word and to your face
…
When the water rages
scooping me up and spiting me out
I look straight to you
and breathe a prayer for saving
…
You are my portion, Lord
where else can I go
for your name’s sake
don’t give me stones
…
I don’t have the heart to make another plan
but with what I have, I surrender
I don’t have the care to dream and build again
but with what remains, I ask for vision
…
When the rains don’t come
and the land dries up and cracks run wild
I lean my head to your breast
and listen for the rushing
…
When the sun’s too harsh
and shade and breeze are scarce
I stay open before your gaze
and shun the unbelief
…
You are my source, Lord
whom have I but you
for your name’s sake
meet me here, too
