Day 19: Righteousness & Peace

The psalmist writes, Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other. Psalm 85:10.

What an intimate description.

When we surrender and walk in righteousness, we get up close and personal with peace. They’re hitched together.

Isaiah writes about the relationship between righteousness and peace too.

The effects of righteousness will be peace. The results of righteousness will be quietness and trust. My people will abide in peaceful and secure places. Isaiah 32:17-18

And, of course, as we talked about a couple of days ago, the most beautiful thing about these verses is that they are leading us to Jesus—our righteousness and our peace.

As we celebrate your birth, Jesus, and prepare for your return, we take cover in you and let your presence have its full effect in our lives.
